Director of Photography Mitchell Orcino’s latest work can be seen in “Shatter Belt,” a science fiction anthology series by acclaimed writer / director James Ward Byrkit (“Coherence” 2015, “Rango” 2011). The project was recently selected to world premiere at the SXSW 2023 Film & Television Festival under the prestigious Television Spotlight category.
Also garnering festival acclaim, Orcino shot “The Negro and the Cheese Knife,” a comedic dark satire directed by Mitchell’s long time collaborative partner and friend Cory St. Ewart, a grad student in the Columbia University Screen Writing Program. The film premiered at the 2022 New Orleans Film Festival, and has since been selected to show at a several domestic and International film festivals including the Toronto Black Film Festival.
Mitchell has been a member of ICG Local 600 for five years, working on a large number of television shows, feature films, and national commercial campaigns. When he is not lensing a project, Mitchell tries to stay creative through cooking, music, and absorbing cultures of places he visits, hobbies he attributes to growing up in the historically and diversity rich areas of south Louisiana.
Mitchell currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
